December 2007 - Cypher + Sabbatical for Body Bag Society

I will be doing some shows with Dutch trashmetalheads Cypher, check out the dates.

Body Bag Society is on a so called 'sabbatical' at the moment, since we're all a bit too busy. But hey, a sabbatical still leaves options for the future. Check out this cool video of our cameraman vs. our crowd ;)


November 2007 - Back!

I'm back from the European tour with Epica! It was a great experience to play in so many countries, for so many people (everyday between 1500 - 2000 and in some venues even more!) and I had lots of fun on and off stage :)



These were also my last gigs as a sessiondrummer for Epica, because Arien van Weesenbeek will be a fulltime member of the band from now on. I want to thank Epica for the great times we had and wish them the best of luck with Arien, he's a great drummer (and a cool guy too).



On tour, a lot of people asked me why I didn't join Epica as a fulltime member.....and I explained to them that at the moment, BAGGA BOWNZ is my nr. 1 priority.

September 2007 - Midpoint Music Festival, Cincinnatti, USA

Bagga Bownz was headliner @ the Midpoint Music Festival in Cincinnatti, USA. We had a blast and played one of our best and most energetic shows ever!

August 2007 - DRUMDRIEDAAGSE!

I'll be teaching at the DrumDrieDraagse (August 17, 18 and 19), organised by Slagwerkkrant and Cesar Zuiderwijk: 72 students, 12 teachers and three full days of drumming!!


Juli 2007 -UPDATE

Had some really cool gigs again: we (Bagga Bownz) got a phonecall if we could be the support act for Gym Class Heroes in the Melkweg, Amsterdam, only 1 day before the show. The gig was great and the place was packed as you can see:

There was only one little 'problem'; I had another show that evening with my projectband Body Bag Society somewhere in Rotterdam (1 hour from Amsterdam). So within 15 minutes after the show with BB I was in my car again and was just in time for the other gig! A totally different gig, but also cool, check out this 'ultraundergroundminimoshpit':

After these 2 shows I couldn't sleep from all the adrenaline, but luckily I had another gig with BB the next day:

June 26th 2007 - What a week!!!

Pfffff....what a week! Tuesday we opened for Papa Roach with Bagga Bownz and we played our asses off as you can see (I have never been so tired after a 30 min. set!!!):

Then on wednesday a quick rehearsal with Epica for a TV show on thursday @ the Underground in Koln, Germany, together with Sonic Syndicate. It was a cool show and of course I was wearing my Bagga Bownz T-shirt ;) The show will be aired in the night of 6 august @ 0:30 on WDR Rockpalast.

On friday Epica played @ Graspop Metal Meeting, a big ass festival with names like Aerosmith, Chris Cornell, KoRn and Cannibal Corpse on the bill!!! We played in the big tent while it was raining, so the tent was packed! Here's a pic from the soundcheck to get an impression:

Unfortunately we couldn't see Aerosmith play, because we had to leave early for the show @ Hellfest in France the next day....we could have gotten some sleep @ the hotel, if it wasn't for a car breakdown!! We had to wait for 6 hours before we could pick up another truck and then drive it back to the gas station. Around 6 AM we crossloaded the trucks....

...and were off to France again, were we arrived just in time to start building for the show!!!!!! I guess that's Rock & Roll? The show was great, we played the mainstage, sharing the bill with bands like Vader, Slayer, Lamb of God and Chimaira!! On YouTube you can find some bootleg material to get an impression of the show.

Yeah this was a nice week! Now my main focus is finishing Bagga Bownz' debutalbum.

May 2007 - Cooool Bagga news!!!!

Februari 2007 - Session drummer for Epica

I'll be doing some cool shows as a sessiondrummer for Epica, check out the dates. From the Epica website:

'We are very happy to announce that Koen Herfst will be joining us live as a session drummer for the upcoming shows. Koen is the drummer of Dutch urban metal band Bagga Bownz, but is also known for his helping hand by filling in for Andre with After Forever when they were in need of a session drummer.´


Januari 2007 - Update

BB: With a new booking agency and our album almost mixed and mastered (Check out our Myspace to hear the latest mixes: 'a Dog's life' and 'Done with the pain') we are more then ever ready to kick some serious ass!!! We are featured in a cool concert concept called 'Faces of rock' and the first night with BB will be in 013, Tilburg, so come check it out!

Xeno: the recordings are finally done, and I will mix the EP a.s.a.p. so that we can release it in Februari, it's about time don't you think?? I put a new little drumcamvideo on my YouTube page from the latest show @ de Boerderij.

BBS: We are writing new stuff now, and out of 9 songs we will choose 6 songs for our first official EP, which we will be recording begin March.

October 2006 - BAGGA BOWNZ PLAYING AT AWARDSHOW IN USA!!!!

Woooooohhaaaaa!!!!! We'll be performing live at the 'Just Plain Folks Music Awards 2006' in Santa Ana - LA, California, USA on saturday, november 4th at the Galaxy Theatre. Keep an eye on our website for updates and lots of pictures and videos of course ;)

28 + 29 October I will play at the M.I.L.E. music beurs with a so called 'DUTCH ALL STAR SESSION' band, together with Marcel Singor, Barend Courbois, Joost van den Broek (After Forever) and Marcel Coenen.
